Bonita on Bedford Ave in Williamsburg[image from Kleen Construction]
The word on the street in Williamsburg is that Bonita is now closed. They were due to close on August 15, but it seems that they packed it in earlier than anticipated. Thursday, July 30 to be exact. Did you know that this Mexican restaurant on Bedford is part of the Diner/Marlow & Sons/Marlow & Daughters empire built by Andrew Tarlow and Mark Firth? I had no idea, until I started to do a little research. Check out this interview with Andrew and Mark on Index Magazine. Their story is pretty interesting.
No word yet if there are plans to relocate. According to Eater, Bonita closed due to ongoing issues with the landlord and the inability to get a liquor license in this space. If you are craving their particular Mexican cuisine, check out Bonita II in Fort Greene (243 DeKalb).

Update, 10:15am
According to Brooklyn Based, former executive chef of Diner/Marlow/Bonita, Caroline Findanza plans to open her own place called Saltie's at 378 Metropolitan. (The space was formerly Cheeks Bakery.) When did Findanza leave Diner? This I did not know. Stay tuned!
I am surprised to see that no one commented here. I thought Bonita was beloved by hipsterburg. Oh well.
