A plain honest donut. This is one donut I can get behind.
Rainy Saturday apple cider. Wow, was it good! I had it hot.
It was like a Vitamin B shot! (energizing)

Last Saturday, I had a hankering for a farmers market donut and a hot apple cider. I think it was because I saw the same kind of plain, basic, unfrosted, unfettered donut in a Bugs Bunny cartoon or a Marx Brothers movie, I can't remember which.
And now all I can think is what happened? Why is today's donut so gooey, crumbed, sprinkled, glazed and encrusted? Why have we as a people have become so indulgent? I think we can use today's donut as a metaphor for something.
