on my art list: andrea zittel

Andrea Zittel is has 2 shows running concurrently in NYC, and I feel compelled to check them out. After I read the article in ARTnews about her a few months ago, I found out that she makes pieces that relate to utilitarianism and multi-function, including clothing as uniform.

Zittel show #1 is called "Small Liberties" at the Whitney Museum at Altria* (through May 7), featuring her experiments with domestic structures. Zittel show #2 is called "Critical Space" at the New Museum of Contemporary Art/Chelsea (through May 27).

*The Biennial opened last week at the "main" Whitney (through May 28), and there are lots of special talks and programs. Check them out. Fridays 6-9pm is suggested donation.
