3 points about the geisha page

Today is the official debut of the new index page on elaineperlov.com designed to run in tandem with our feature on Style Bakery. Before I comment on the new page, I would like to say a few words about the previous index page, Geisha! When I was studying in Japan, I visited this stunning Shinto Shrine, Fushimi Inari Taisha, in Kyoto. There are thousands of red torii gates that are placed through the woods, up and down hills; some are spaced close together, as pictured, some are spread farther apart. As you make your way through the torii on your journey, you undergo a transformation. Does this remind you of anything? If you were lucky enough to experience Christo and Jeanne-Claude's The Gates last February in Central Park, you might be making this same connection. Another walking experience that simulates the gates, torii or otherwise, for me is making the trek across the Williamsburg Bridge. Look at these photos of the walking path! Even the colors are similar! These connections please me.
