alas, the sneaker. (because I live in nyc and walk a ton!) but not too
sneakery of a sneaker. more of a sneaker disguised as a shoe, like a mary
jane style or a high-tech looking black one with a metallic accent. how
about Royal Elastics? I must go try some on. I really like the non-sneakeryness
of their styles.

brave new whole foods
Have you noticed that the Whole Foods on 14th Street has replaced the line facilitator with a futuristic flat screen with a melifluous voice? I for one am utterly creeped out. Bring back the human please. For those of you who frequent smaller Whole Foods Markets, I must explain that the Union Square Whole Foods has such high volume with around 30 registers that they need line facilitators to streamline traffic flow and guide you to your particular register. Very efficient and rather luxurious, I always thought. The flat screen, on the other hand, is confusing for people, inefficient and cold. Big Brother says move to register 28. I say no thanks.
