I don't know. This top looks very "designer" on the hanger, even though it's only from the Gap. Very drapey. Potentially flattering. Or not so very. I'll have to try it on.

Okay, so you are going to have to use your imagination here a bit. Why won't people just slow down so I can snap a picture of their outfit without their knowledge? I know, I don't understand either. So this woman passed me on the way home in the subway yesterday wearing a Mount Rushmore Dress! The dress, as you can see, is black. The streaky lines are rhinestones. And Mount Rushmore woven right into the silky fabric on the front and back hem is in white! You can sort of make out George Washington's hairstyle and jawline. If you squint. Where did she get it!? I almost ran up to her and asked, but then I thought, why spoil the anonymity of the encounter.

I did a little research online. Oddly my search led me to another blurry photo of the Mt. Rushmore Dress. And then I found that it is a Built by Wendy design. How cool.

I think you can never have too much shopping help. Or enough self-diagnostics. I looked up a site for a designer I saw featured in Nylon Magazine, in the "What's the Matter with Kansas?" article, only because the site they cited was a .typepad.com and not a .com. What?

Times certainly have changed. I remember being told by magazines back in the day that if you are not featured in key retail locations, "we can't cover you." So I got myself into key retail locations. And got coverage. And then, online shopping hit the scene, and Luckymag.com's rule was 'no shopping cart, no coverage.' So we upgraded our site to full e-commerce with a custom-designed shopping cart and added our own Elaine Perlov Gift Cards too. And I got more coverage. Lots of coverage in fact. I am not complaining. Believe me.

So back to Nylon. I went to this designer's Typepad Blog, and there is no link to her designs. I am surprised. Maybe that's what's the matter with Kansas. Aha! And her blog is more diary-style than professional-promotional. Call me old-fashioned, but I want a Website in the credit line, not a diary. Snarky? Perhaps. But I have to tell it as I see it.
