alas, the sneaker. (because I live in nyc and walk a ton!) but not too sneakery of a sneaker. more of a sneaker disguised as a shoe, like a mary jane style or a high-tech looking black one with a metallic accent. how about Royal Elastics? I must go try some on. I really like the non-sneakeryness of their styles.

twitter poem

I was tired of being terse on Facebook yesterday, and so I turned to Twitter. It felt good to get it all out in a longer format. I have reversed it back to counter-chronological order for your reading pleasure.

To be perfectly frank, I had the stupidest lunch hour. Went to see a lecture at Bryant Park, but it was a dud. Hoping it would be about art,

but it was about the business of art. Not interesting. Also, the seating was right in the sun. No thanks.

So I meandered over to the poetry reading, but they weren't reading poetry. Boo.

So I went to get my favorite Japanese treat at the J grocery store on 41st near the NYPL, and they changed (ruined) it! Instead of a [...]

[...] salmon roll for only $1.25, it now is a salmon cod roe roll. UGH. Too salty. I don't like roe much either. And no, they won't be

changing it back. So off to Sephora to get my Shu Uemura eyelash curler, and no, Sephora doesn't carry it anymore. Only online. OK fine.

So I was hungry and cranky and entertainment-less. So I wandered. And wandered. And didn't have much fun. Found a good Turkish restaurant

to get treats for dinner. The guy was gruff. Almost quit. But ordered anyway. Then a nicer guy helped me with the rest of the order.

Good food. Came back to work. And ate the modest lunch I brought. That salmon roll would have perfectly supplemented what I brought. Sad.

interesting article

Have you noticed how often the word "Facebook" comes up in everyday conversation? Go out to dinner with friends, ride the subway, walk down the street, go to the office, and I think you will hear the word "Facebook" quite a bit. Read this article, basically talking about the fate of newspapers these days, and what they should do next (by way of using Facebook as a compelling content producer as an example). The comments are also very interesting.

Here is another good article about how Facebook (and the egalitarian nature of the internet) has the way people think and conditioned people's expectations in the workplace.

my friend bill

My friend Bill has the best Facebook Status Bar Comments. I like to visit his profile to read them all in succession. It makes for a nice poem. Please enjoy. From Bill's Facebook page, in reverse chronological order, without his consent in advance.

Bill is suspicious about how quiet it is today...
Bill is putting my to-do list at the top of my to-do list.
Bill is just sort of wondering when Portland's infatuation with big, bushy beards on men is going to end in tears and recrimination...*
Bill is typing.**
Bill is hitting the road.
Bill is having a day.
Bill is taking all feedback with a grain of French sea salt.
Bill is waiting to see what it all means.
Bill is glad there's olive oil.

*Perhaps Bill is reading my blog?
**Perhaps Bill is reading my Facebook Status Bar? See EP, 2.18.09,
"Elaine is typing her status into the status bar on Facebook."
***Perhaps Bill will not appreciate this tribute.
