current shoe obsession
alas, the sneaker. (because I live in nyc and walk a ton!) but not too sneakery of a sneaker. more of a sneaker disguised as a shoe, like a mary jane style or a high-tech looking black one with a metallic accent. how about Royal Elastics? I must go try some on. I really like the non-sneakeryness of their styles.

pouf!

"Your stuffed Moroccan pouf has shipped!" said the email.
"Yay!" said me.

love this

I love this silver pouf. Not your typical Moroccan styling, but I like the simplicity. Who knew Amazon sold silver poufs? What don't they sell?

Okay, I like this one too. Which to choose? Both from Casablanca Market on Amazon.

maybe possibly kinda cool

I don't know. This top looks very "designer" on the hanger, even though it's only from the Gap. Very drapey. Potentially flattering. Or not so very. I'll have to try it on.

Update, 5.10.11
Fabric, really good. Cut, really bad. Pocket, very strange.

clutching at straws

Yes, Gap can surprise me at times. This metallic strap clutch bag is pretty cute in person. Hardware: very good. Strap: non-leather, but decent enough. Price: I'm waiting for it to go on sale...

my first review on endless

I have never ever ever reviewed anything on a Website before. Before today. I got my Tretorn silver boots in the mail yesterday from Endless (my favorite shoe Website of all-time) and felt compelled to add my two cents. Mine's at the top! Neat-0. (Endless lists reviews in reverse chronological order.)

Read it here. Why doesn't anyone else bother to be humorous? My secret reviewer's tag is "fashiondesigner" from Brooklyn. Yup.

This brings a whole new level of meaning to the phrase, "self-published."

Just in case, for some reason, it gets lost on Endless -- like the product goes away or something -- you can read it below, preserved forever.

Silhouette like an UGG
posted by: fashiondesigner (Brooklyn) posted on: Jan 21, 2011

I read all the reviews, and understood them in a way I wanted to, because I really loved the look of these boots from the Endless photos. Now that I own the boots, and see them in real life, I have a different visual. The silhouette is extremely wide, and makes your foot look like an elephant paw, like an UGG. I don't love that silhouette. I'd prefer a slimmer line. However, the fit is excellent and the furry inside (which at first comes off on your pants -- you'll need a lint brush -- I'm hoping this goes away over time) has kind of sold me on it anyway. I really wanted something comfortable and unique. Well, it's comfortable for sure, and the unique part is that it looks like a Japanese construction worker space boot. If you like that look...

must have

Yes, I must have it. It is so shiny. And a perfect size to hold a lipstick and a chapstick. And just $14. And while I'm at the Marc Jacobs store, I am getting this too, if they still have any left. $5. [images from marcjacobs.com]

don't just stand there. accessorize!

It seems that every time I go shopping for a particular item, I instead come home with a skinny silver belt. Yesterday's silver belt from J. Crew.

Crackle silver! So beautiful.

silver!

This Nine West clutch has definite possibilities. It measures 11"L x 11"H or 12"L x 7"H, depending on how you fold it; although I fail to see how it gains an inch in length in the folded position. It must be magic. To purchase, I would have to see this piece in person. It looks larger than life on the Website. I can't get a sense of the scale. Or the quality. Alas.

mirrored silver

Even the name sounds sumptous. Mirrored silver. Leather Envelope. Yum. I saw this leather envelope on Lucky Magazine's Website today. And let me tell you, I was very tempted. Take a look. The Leather Envelope in question is by Anya Hindmarch of all people. Well, it is a bit out of my price range. Case closed on this one. It was the copy that tempted me in the end.

metallic belt alert

Can a girl ever have too many silver belts? Of course the answer is no. (Look who is asking...) Silver belts are like black socks. They are a wardrobe staple. And as such, it is justified to purchase silver belts in small quantity. So girls, get thee to Ann Taylor or to the Website, where you can try this Python Inlaid Buckle Belt on for size. It's on sale. What could be better?

silver vs. silver

If you follow the most current of current trends, you will know that the silver crackle leather with the lovely patina is so hopelessly last year, and looking a little worn out if you didn't take care of it properly, replaced this season by the more bold high-shine silver that you can clean with a rag and a bottle of Windex. (Can you guess which silver I like?)

I'll take the crackle silver with the warm matte finish any day. I pledge to take care of it meticulously and never ever wear it in the rain.

in hot pursuit of a handbag, #2

I chased this silver tote-style handbag down just outside of Grand Central on Lex this past Wednesday. Oh the crowds. It makes it quite difficult to capture one's subject clearly, I'll tell you. (I was jogging behind her, trying to hold the camera steady.) This bag was so enchanting. I loved the asymmetry in the pocket arrangement, and those lovely curved insets at the corners. I have a particular fondness for curved insets.

Do any of you recognize this bag? I will try to find it and provide a better picture. I am still working on the first one too, which I have seen carried by three more women, this week alone. It must be an 'It Bag.' Upon closer look yesterday, I found that it has not one, but two extra-long tassels!

trend: high-shine silver

Remember that warm crackle finish of Marc Jacobs' matte silver handbags last Spring? If you want to be up-to-the-second, you may want to retire that bag for the moment.* When it comes to metallics, there are more than a few high-shine silver and gold offerings on the horizon for Spring. From Gucci trickling on down to Nine West.

*For the record, I am not an advocate of up-to-the-second dressing. Plus, I prefer the silver with the warm crackle finish.

sumptuous silver

SILVER SATIN KARATE BELT

Need to refresh your wardrobe in a pinch? Make metallics your friend again this Fall. They were great this summer; and now they are great again, in new slightly deeper, richer shades. Wear them with all your Fall fabrics, from cords to denims to suedes for all the right... to hit all the right notes..........I like to add a little shimmer here and there, from my lipstick to my eyeshadow to my toenail polish to my evening bag to my day tote to my belt! But not all at once, of course.

more marc

Don't worry, I am just looking. Both of these pieces by Marc by Marc Jacobs appeal to me. I didn't notice them in the store but I'm sure they were there. Find them online under Bags, Spring 2006 Women's. Why is their site so annoying? It kills the fun of sending links to your friends!
Here is the series of bags which that wristlet comes from. I cannot find that wristlet. It must be just an in-store treat. Go and look before it sells out! Isn't the metallic subtle and lovely?

And here is the strange chunky necklace I tried on for $35. I think you have to be very very very tall to wear this one. And I am not. I like the one I made better. Remember the Lucky Moon Necklace from a couple of years ago? I still like to wear that one in the summer.
