alas, the sneaker. (because I live in nyc and walk a ton!) but not too
sneakery of a sneaker. more of a sneaker disguised as a shoe, like a mary
jane style or a high-tech looking black one with a metallic accent. how
about Royal Elastics? I must go try some on. I really like the non-sneakeryness
of their styles.

particularly good pizzas
These pizzas warranted photo-documentation. Over the years, my husband I and have photographed many of our homemade pizzas. It is our nice strange tradition. We buy dough from the Italian bakery, or now, from the pizza place in our neighborhood, (because are you going to make a better dough from scratch? no.), divide it in half and each make a pie. His: a Mexican pizza with black bean cooked with chipotle peppers & Indian coriander sauce, and after cooking, sprinkled with chopped scallions, and avocado, and drizzled with yogurt (above). He is a good cook. Mine: a pasta pizza (an homage to Trio's in the North End, now closed) with roasted zucchini, broccoli, garlic, tossed in a roasted eggplant-red pepper sauce with the cooked fusilli, and lightly sprinkled with Locatelli. (below) Here is a link to the cheese online, although we bought it in Little Italy. Labels: food, pizza, restaurants
