current shoe obsession
alas, the sneaker. (because I live in nyc and walk a ton!) but not too sneakery of a sneaker. more of a sneaker disguised as a shoe, like a mary jane style or a high-tech looking black one with a metallic accent. how about Royal Elastics? I must go try some on. I really like the non-sneakeryness of their styles.

camo-red-black

I am still getting the hang of Polyvore, composition-wise. But hey, I tend to like things simple and affordable when it comes to dressing. I joined a Polyvore group called We Don't Need A Background, and posted this collage there. Ah Polyvore.

I found the shoes in the lower left corner on Barneys.com. They are totally not affordable. As are some of the shoes. But hey, half of fashion is fantasty. Half is affordability and wearability. I hope my designs are the latter half.

4th of july options

I always love red, blue and silver for 4th of July. Mixed with black of course. I don't like white. What can I say. White looks bad on me. Silver is the white for those who like a little dazzle. Pizazz. Pizazzle. Anyway. Above, my second Polyvore collage incorporating some of my skirt designs. I own a Matt and Nat bag that is made of Japanese paper that I purchased from Alter in Greenpoint. I absolutely love the bag. So unique. Hope you like these pairings. Happy shopping!

i'm on polyvore!

I just opened a Polyvore account and I love it. I have been checking out this Web 2.0 fashion site since this post, way back in January 2008. I always search for cool fashion items on Polyvore. It is so much better than a Google image search. Especially when it comes to shoes.

My first collage above, "Summer Minimalist 1," featuring my Labyrinth Tee (50% off until Friday with code, TWITTERT) and Linen Arc Skirt. Did you know you can link your Polyvore account to your Twitter account? I love living in the future. You can have your own Web empire without ever leaving your chair. SO neat.

and these boots

One shoe (one shoe) leads to another... Pretend shopping on Polyvore is one of my favorite pastimes. I must say, these boots from Fleuvog make a compelling argument for purchasing. The eyelets! I love they eyelets. They are a great accessory to this accessory.

Personal note: as I write this piece, I am wearing a pair of John Fleuvog lattice boots I bought in the 90s. I bought two pair because I loved them so much. I recently started wearing the second pair and am loving them all over again. A good pair of boots is a good pair of boots. I am very Gertrude Stein in this post for some reason.

valentino

Look at these Valentino shoes! I found these on Polyvore today. Being a Pisces with a birthday coming up... (hint, hint) Suffice it to say, I wouldn't mind receiving these as a birthday gift.

polyvore

Have you heard of polyvore.com? With this online tool, you can create visual shareable wishlists and fabulous fashion spreads a la Lucky magazine. Apparently, you have to create an account to participate, and any items you import and 'sets' you create are made available to the public. I am not quite sure who profits from this, but it is certainly a brilliant tool to capture people's information and monitor their purchasing desires. It's market research meets Web 2.0. I must investigate this further.

Polyvore has a legal page a mile long. I am almost afraid to post a post from Polyvore here. But it says, "You may display images of sets from the Website on other websites for non-commercial use, provided that you do so with the embed code provided by Polyvore." I think I have complied with the regulations.

One disturbingly popular object: the Starbucks Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino. What? Look at how many outfit 'sets' the Frappucino accessorizes. This outfit is accessorized with a Frappuccino and a phone.

Oy. But interesting, nonetheless.
